Payment Options

At Accuvet, we strive for transparency and fairness in our pricing. Our price structure reflects the high standards of care provided by our experienced team of veterinarians and support staff. We prioritize open communication, ensuring that clients are fully informed about the costs associated with various procedures and treatments.

During your consultation, your veterinarian will provide an estimate of the treatment costs based on your pet’s unique needs, including diagnostic tests, surgical interventions, and post-operative care. By providing this information upfront, we help you make informed decisions about your pet’s healthcare.

While we are a cash practice, we understand that veterinary expenses can be unexpected. To ease the financial burden, we offer alternative payment options like Mediwallet and other payment plans to help manage costs. Learn more about Mediwallet here.
Additionally, Accuvet will assist with pre-authorizations for larger and planned procedures with major pet insurance companies, ensuring a smooth and stress-free process.

Our commitment to transparent communication about fees aligns with our dedication to providing exceptional and compassionate care. Our Reception and Administration staff are here to support you, allowing you to focus on what matters most—your pet.
Guidelines for Ordering Prescription Medication (Repeat Scripts)
At Accuvet, we are committed to providing the best care for your pets, including ensuring they have access to the medications they need. To make the process more convenient, we’ve outlined the following guidelines for ordering prescription medications or repeat scripts:

1. Requesting Repeat Prescriptions:

Standard Prescriptions: Please contact our Reception Team at least 48 hours before you need to pick up your medication. This allows us sufficient time to order and prepare your prescription.
Compound Medication: For compounded medications, please contact us at least 2 weeks in advance to ensure our pharmacies have enough time to prepare the medication.
You may request repeat prescriptions by calling our Accuvet WhatsApp phone at 082 545 7206 or sending an email to reception@accuvet.co.za.

2. Veterinary Approval:

All prescription requests must be reviewed and approved by one of our veterinarians. Even for repeat prescriptions, your pet may require a check-up to ensure the medication remains appropriate for their condition.
A brief consultation may be needed if your pet’s condition has changed or if there are concerns regarding the ongoing use of the medication. This can be arranged at your convenience.
For chronic medication repeats, we recommend re-evaluating your pet’s condition every 3-6 months. After this period, we may require a visit to assess their health and determine if the medication is still appropriate.

3. Providing Pet Details:

When placing your request, please provide the full name of your pet, species, the current medication they are on, and the dosage required. This information helps our team process your request promptly.

4. Medication Pickup:

Once your prescription is approved, you will be notified by phone or email that the medication is ready for pickup.
If you are unable to collect the medication yourself, you may arrange for someone else to pick it up on your behalf. Please notify us in advance for this arrangement.

5. Payment:

Payment is required at the time of medication collection. We accept various payment methods, including cash, card payments, and payment plans like Mediwallet.

6. Prescription Refills:

For pets on long-term medication, we recommend regular check-ups with your veterinarian to ensure the medication remains effective and safe.
If your pet has been stable on medication, repeat prescriptions may be authorized after a brief check-in with our veterinary team.

7. Special Orders:

If a medication is out of stock or you need a specialized drug, we can place an order for you. Please allow extra time for special orders and be prepared to discuss any specific requirements with our staff.

We are dedicated to ensuring that your pet’s treatment plan is managed effectively. If you have any questions or concerns regarding prescription medications, feel free to contact our team at any time.
Thank you for choosing Accuvet for your pet’s healthcare needs!
